I receive the Netted newsletter every day, which lets me know about interesting thinsg happening online. Today’s notice really caught my eye since it involved food.
Foodzie allows you to order products from small-scale gourmet producers and growers across the country, and goods are shipped directly from producers. Shipping fees (which can be a deal-breaker for me) vary according to the producer and some of them are quite reasonable.
One of the first things to catch my eye was a single malt Scotch caramel candy bar covered in dark chocolate and sprinkled with sea salt, made by BonBonBar. The creator Tweeted that a bourbon version is in the works. A couple of years ago I made single malt butterScotch and brought it to work for an ice cream party. It was crazy good. People still talk about it. Throw in dark chocolate and a touch of sea salt? My imagination is in overdrive right now.
You really can find just about anything from soup to nuts on this site. It’s like a virtual farmers’ market. You can shop by type of product or by region. Locally, Lucille’s Garden Kitchen, Olympia Granola, and Aunt Else’s Æbleskiver are selling on the site. Among the Wisconsin offerings, I can highly recommend the cheeses from Otter Creek Organic Farms. The pesto cheddar is great on pizza or as a pasta filling.
So check it out and see what treasures you find.
